Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Transfer [APEL.C] is a process of assessing an individual’s prior (non-formal and informal) learning based on accumulated experience (knowledge and skills) to obtain credit transfer for courses in an ongoing program. Emphasis should be placed on the main concept of APEL.C, which is the assessment of an individual’s ability to use learning achieved through experience to achieve the learning outcomes of a course.
Functions of APEL.C:
Recognize learning gained from work experience and short courses attended;
Reduce repetitive learning for students;
Encourage the entry of adult candidates into higher education programs; and
