English Language Proficiency

For entry to UPM, you must meet the minimum English language requirements except for Doctor of Medicine and a few Bachelor programmes which requires higher English requirement (please refer to the specific programme requirements).

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEST	MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE SCORE
	IELTS band 5.5 and above; or
	TOEFL iBT score of 60 and above; or
	PTE Score of 43 and above; or
	Cambridge English (CAE/CPE/Linguaskill) Score 154 and above
	MUET band 3 and above; or
	CIEP level 107 and above CIEP is available on campus at UPM or online. Learn more.

NOTE: 

• IELTS INDICATOR, APTIS, DUOLINGO, AND TOEFL ITP are not acceptable to meet the English Language requirement.
• The validity period of the English Language Proficiency score should not be more than five years. 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXEMPTION

Exemption of English Language requirement can be given for: -

• An international applicant studying at an international school where English is the language of instruction.
• An international applicant from a native English-speaking country.
• An international applicant from a non-native English-speaking country where English is an official language.

If your application is successful, we will make you a full offer. However, if you apply without English language proficiency and are successful, you may receive a provisional offer.
