Compassion Towards Animals

Compassion towards animals means treating animals with kindness, mercy and responsibility. Every animal is a living creature that needs food, water, shelter and a safe environment. Therefore, humans have a responsibility to ensure that animals are not abused, harmed or neglected.

In Islam, showing kindness towards animals is a highly encouraged virtue. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught Muslims to show mercy to all living creatures, including animals. Providing food and water, offering proper shelter, caring for sick or injured animals and avoiding actions that cause unnecessary suffering are examples of compassion that we can practise in our daily lives.

We must also respect animals' natural habitats and avoid activities that threaten their survival. Littering, environmental pollution, illegal hunting and habitat destruction can have serious consequences for wildlife and disrupt the balance of our ecosystem.

Compassion for animals should be nurtured from an early age. Pets are not merely a source of entertainment; they are a responsibility that requires proper care and attention. When we encounter injured, abandoned or abused animals, we should take appropriate action by seeking assistance from the relevant authorities or animal welfare organisations.

The way we treat animals reflects our humanity. By caring for and protecting animals, we not only safeguard their welfare but also contribute to preserving a balanced and sustainable environment for future generations.
